Mastering Eudora 5.0 Student Manual Ref: WTEU50MA

This one-day course is designed for two primary audiences:
  1. those who have been using Eudora for any period of time but who do not understand its advanced features (such as filters, signatures, personalities, return receipts, auto-responders, and stationery), and
  2. those who have never used e-mail but plan to use Eudora.
This course, which contains 53 hands-on exercises, provides everything even the most
technically-savvy business user needs to harness the power of Eudora to save time, be more competitive, and use the power of e-mail to be a more effective communicator.

Prerequisites
The prerequisite for this course is Quessing.s Internet Fundamentals or equivalent experience. No prior experience with Eudora or e-mail is required. This course is also appropriate for users with significant experience with e-mail but little or no experience using Eudora. Due to the in-depth nature of this course, users of Eudora who have not explored its high-end features (such as filters, signatures, personalities, stationery, and custom folders) will also gain significantly from this course.

Course Objectives
The objectives of this course are to teach students to:
  • Understand the basic characteristics of Internet e-mail and server configuration
  • Configure incoming (POP) and outgoing (SMTP) mail server addresses
  • Attach any type of file to an outgoing e-mail message
  • Avoid spam messages
  • Avoid viruses transmitted via e-mail attachments
  • Customize the default toolbars
  • Create and customize new toolbars
  • Interpret information displayed in the status bar, including error messages
  • Use the Address Book feature to automate outgoing messages
  • Use auto-responders to automatically reply to incoming messages
  • Perform a spell check on an outgoing message
  • Interpret message header information
  • Use signatures in business communications
  • Use Eudora's personalities feature to manage multiple e-mail accounts
  • Use stationery to automate repetitive messaging tasks
  • Use filters to automatically route incoming messages to custom mailboxes or to automatically delete spam
  • Use filters to perform multiple actions on incoming messages
  • Create custom mailboxes and folders
  • Use return receipts
  • Use Eudora's Find feature to locate a specific term or phrase within a message
