Course Description Quessing's Mastering Digital Photography teaches students everything they need to know to capture digital photos, transfer them from their camera to their computer, and correct, enhance, and share their photos. This one-day course contains more than 50 hands-on exercises focused on the basics of good digital photography, how to correct common problems with digital photos, how to transfer photos from a camera to a PC, retouching photos, applying special effects, printing and using print templates, and sharing photos using the Web-based photo sharing service Shutterfly.
Course Objectives Upon completion of this course, students will have the knowledge and experience-gained via lecture and hands-on exercises-to manipulate and print digital photos on their PC using Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8. Students will gain a comprehensive knowledge of the following topics:
- Overview of digital photography
- Basic photographic techniques
- Storing, transferring, and archiving digital photos
- Retouching and improving digital photos
- Applying special effects
- Printing photos using Paint Shop Pro 8 and templates, including printing for frames and matching photo size to frame size
- Sharing photos online and ordering prints using Shutterfly
Intended Audience This is a consumer-level introductory course intended for people with little or no experience with digital photography. This course familiarizes students with the technology, functionality, and utility of digital photography and photo manipulation using Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8 and the Shutterfly photo sharing/print ordering service. Those who need to be familiar with editing techniques and special effects such as red-eye removal, resizing, cropping, adding stylized text, and removing, duplicating, and adding objects to a photo will gain the most from this course. This course is updated every four months to compensate for rapid technical innovations and product introductions/revisions within the digital photography market.
Prerequisites Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows and how to operate a mouse and keyboard. No digital camera necessary (exercise files bundled with workbook on CD-ROM).
